The California Highway Patrol has recommended that singer-actress Brandy be prosecuted for misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter.
A CHP source tells TMZ his department has ruled out mechanical malfunction as the cause of the crash. The source adds that the CHP believes Brandy "was just going too fast" and "was the person at fault."
If convicted, Brandy could face one year in L.A. County Jail and a $1,000 fine.
TMZ broke the story that Brandy was involved in a wreck on a Los Angeles freeway on December 30, 2006. The accident claimed the life of 38-year-old Awatef Aboudihaj. An eyewitness tells TMZ Brandy was traveling at around 65 miles per hour but did not stop when traffic in front of her slowed. Brandy's vehicle struck the vehicle in front of her and triggered a four car crash. There is no evidence of drugs or alcohol and Brandy was not arrested.
A CHP rep tells TMZ that although his department believes Brandy's negligence caused the crash, he does not believe the accident was caused by gross negligence. If officials found gross negligence, Brandy could be prosecuted for felony manslaughter.
The case has now been referred to the Los Angeles City Attorney's office for review.

This time it's really over! Lance Bass and Reichen Lehmkuhl have unplugged -- and this time it looks like it's for good. Amid rumors of Reichen's involvement in "extracurricular" activities, the former 'NSYNCer just updated his MySpace page to reflect that his relationship status now reads "single," rather than "in a relationship."
Bass also changed the song that plays when his page opens. Now, Justin Timberlake's "What Goes Around" plays while you browse Bass' page. This officially puts Lance back on the market ... the first time as a single and out gay man. Lance assured his fans, "I am totally fine ... so don't worry about me."

While I still think he must be fired, John Mayer - yes, John Mayer - has come up with an interesting idea on how ABC should "address" Isaiah Washington hateful and hurtful behavior. The singer just posted this on his blog:
"By now you've probably heard of the incredible tension and controversy on the set of TV's hit series Grey's Anatomy, involving a particularly unsavory homosexual slur allegedly made to a fellow castmate by actor Isaiah Washington. Gay and lesbian groups are outraged, calling for Mr. Washington's immediate termination from the show.
Now, far be it from me to chime in on other people's business, but just like the man standing in line for a movie overhears a stranger behind him whom he knows has confused the finer points of the film Throw Mama From The Train with those of Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot!, sometimes you have to turn around and butt into a situation that doesn't concern you in order to offer a little bit of assistance.
ABC may fire Mr. Washington, and it seems as if the pressure to do so is mounting by the day. They may also choose to placate all parties involved with some well-constructed press releases and the soothing touch of time, but in my mind, neither outcome succeeds in making any strides in promoting the tenets of tolerance and understanding.
I would like to offer my suggestion for a solution; produce an episode of Grey's Anatomy in which Mr. Washington's character, Dr. Burke comes out to his friends and colleagues as a gay man!!! What better way for an actor to get to the roots of his discrimination than by portraying the very the subject of his own ire for the remainder of his contract? That'll learn ya!
In case any writers of the show happen to be reading, I have included some possible script excerpts that might help get this story line up and running.
I still think Washington needs to be fired, but the idea of forcing this homophobe to play a gay character and make out with lots of men on the show would be poetic justice."

Sometimes awards shows make us weep a little, laugh a little, or sleep a little. And then there are moments that just make us cringe, a lot.
Last night's Golden Globes was no exception. Long after Ryan Seacrest's thoroughly wince-inducing stand-up with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Warren Beatty made us wince with a deeply awkward (and incorrect) "Borat" impression.
Best TV Comedy Actress winner, America Ferrara, positively made us gnash our soup dumplings when she exited the stage after her touching acceptance speech and waited like a glowingly expectant puppy to be interviewed by NBC's Maria Menounos. And waited. And waited. And then had to run offstage, ignored by the blathering Ms. M. Such indignity!
Then, as Prince was a no-show to accept his award for best song, Justin Timberlake waited for his Petite Purple Majesty to come and collect his trophy, then saved the cringe-worthy moment by making himself a foot shorter and accepting on Prince's behalf.

Australian pop diva Kylie Minogue, on the comeback trail since battling breast cancer, has rescheduled two British shows she cancelled due to ill health, her management said.
A spokesman for EMI told the UK's Press Association that Monday and Tuesday's Showgirls Homecoming concerts are cancelled but will go ahead at the Manchester Evening News Arena on January 21 and 22.
The 38-year-old star was forced to finish her show on Saturday early.
A spokesman told PA: "After being forced to pull out early from Saturday night's Showgirl Homecoming performance at the Manchester Evening News Arena due to a moderately severe respiratory tract infection, doctors have insisted that Kylie Minogue not perform in the immediate future.
"We currently anticipate that Thursday and Friday nights' shows will not be affected.
"Whilst we await the all clear from her doctors we wish her a speedy recovery and hope to be able to confirm her return to the stage soon.
"Anyone who cannot attend the rearranged dates should return their tickets to the point of purchase no later than Friday to claim a refund."
The cancellation of the shows sparked fears the singer had returned to the stage too soon after recovering from cancer. It is still not clear whether Saturday's show will also be rescheduled.

As TMZ first reported in July, soccer stud David Beckham and his wife, former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, are moving to America and setting up digs in Los Angeles.
Beckham is leaving Spanish soccer team Real Madrid at the end of the season to join the Los Angeles Galaxy, a Major League Soccer team. Who knew we had pro soccer teams? The five-year deal could be worth a reported $200 million.
David is no stranger to Southern California, having already set up a local branch of his youth soccer camp, The David Beckham Academy. As for Posh, she can look forward to more shopping excursions with new BFF Katie Holmes.
While they're huge stars in Europe, Posh & Becks have not been able to mimic their media domination on our shores. Could this be an attempt by the supercouple to obtain that same level of fame stateside? We'll see!

Lets REWIND back a little to September 2006 and watch Amy Winehouse's music video for "Rehab" the lead single off her second album Back To Black.
The song was written about Amy's refusal to attend an alcohol rehabilitation centre after her management team encouraged her to go. "I asked my dad if he thought I needed to go. He said: 'No but I should give it a try.' So I did, for just 15 minutes. I went in said 'hello' and explained that I drink because I am in love and have fucked up the relationship. Then I walked out."
Amy later changed her management company.

It will be fascinating to see if this is an enchanting fluke, or if America is destined to at last see the arrival of its own Kylie." Lets REWIND and watch "DÃa de Enero" the third single released from Shakira 's 2005 album Fijación Oral 1, following "La Tortura" and "No". The song peaked within the Top 40 in the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart. The song never made it to the Hot 100, most likely because it was starting to get recognition at the same time as the more popular "Hips Don't Lie". The song fared well elsewhere, especially in South America.

Britney Spears may look disheveled from too much partying, but rumors of her professional demise are premature.
Sources inside Jive Records tell me that despite stories last week about the pop tart being dropped by her label, nothing is further from the truth.
"Britney is safe. She's been recording since even before the blow up with Kevin Federline," says my source. “She’s working with a lot of different producers. Jive is not dropping her.”
Indeed, with the current crazy climate in the record biz, Jive wouldn’t be very smart if they let go of a known commodity.
“Let’s put it this way,” says an insider, “she’s just a hit away from being back. Why drop her now?”
Dropping Britney would also be a terrible PR move for Jive right now, too. To turn against a single mother of two — even if she is a party girl — would not play well in the public’s mind. If Courtney Love can make a comeback, then Britney Spears certainly can
The source continues: “If you think back to her last record, everyone said she was finished then. The word was that Pink would have the hit album, and that Britney was over. In the U.S., at least, that didn’t happen. It was the reverse. Britney had a monster album.”
So Spears is off the hook for the time being. But patience can wear thin even in the mercurial music biz. So she’d better get back in the studio and get serious fast.

Check out Beyonce's music video for "Déjà Vu" the lead single from her sophomore album 'B'Day'. The video is directed by Sophie Muller and was shot on various locations in New Orleans, Louisiana.
During the making of the video for "Déjà Vu", Beyoncé recalled being in swamps dodging alligators, snakes and bees.
She revealed that she "decided to go to Louisiana because it has a soul that a studio can't give you. We were in the swamps. Literally, there were alligators, snakes, bees, and wasps. It was 105 degrees. All of that sweat in the video is real. That's not some spritzer. That's real."

Britney Spears just posted this message on her official website. "Dear Fans, It has been a while since I've addressed you personally here on my official website. The last couple of years have been quite a ride for me, the media has criticized my every move and printed a skewed perception of who I really am as a human being.Behind every decision I have made in my public life there always seems to be an apparent contradiction. I have come to terms with that which is why I usually don't pay much attention to it.
The last couple of years have been very enlightening for me and now that I've had the time to be "me", I've been able to sit down and think about where I want to go with myself as an entertainer with absolutely no strings attached. I am now more mature and feel like I am finally "free". I've been working so hard on this new album and I can't wait for you all to hear it and to go on tour again! I would like to exclusively tell you that I am working hard to release the new album sometime later this year, but the date is of course not certain yet. I look forward to coming back this year bigger and better than ever, and to also reaching out to my fans on a more personal level. I noticed today that one of my biggest fansites is shutting down soon and I want you all to know that I do understand all the reasons that went behind making that decision, and I am sad to see it closing. If I were you I'd be unhappy too if I had to read what I've been reading every day. But trust me, I get it. I know I've been far from perfect and the media has had a lot of fun exaggerating my every move, but I want you all to know that I love my fans so much, and I appreciate everything you have done for me, so Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! Love,
Britney
