Ritmo Latino, a Spanish music store chain, has banned all Jennifer Lopez CDs after the "singer" refused to make in-store appearances to promote her first Spanish-language CD, "Como Ama una Mujer" ("How a Woman Loves"). Ritmo president David Massry said:
"We've supported her from the beginning. Now we're told by her record company she will only visit Anglo retail outlets...This is a Spanish-language CD, and if she wants to discriminate against the Latin community, then we will not sell her product. This is not the first time this has happened. Celebrities have this notion that when they reach a certain level of crossover appeal, they forget quickly where they started. We will no longer tolerate these situations."

Following the success of Virgin Mobile Canada's first Virgin Festival, year two promises to be bigger and better – with eight major acts now confirmed to perform on Toronto Island on September 8th and 9th. The Smashing Pumpkins will be headlining the show in their first stop in Canada since November, 2000 and Icelandic singer/songwriter Björk will close the show on day one of the festival.
"The Smashing Pumpkins, Bjork, The Killers and more than 30 other artists bring a level of excitement that puts Virgin Festival on the cutting edge of North American Festivals," said Richard Branson, chairman of the Virgin Group and founder of Virgin Mobile Canada. "Virgin's roots are in the music industry and it's that history that helped make Virgin Mobile's first Virgin Festival the hottest ticket of last summer. Virgin Festival 2007 will be taking the experience to an even higher level."
Rounding out the bill of headliners are The Killers, already confirmed to play Vancouver's Virgin Festival in May, Interpol, Tokyo Police Club, Jamie T., Paolo Nutini and Amy Winehouse. These artists mark the first eight acts of more than 35 artists that are expected to perform on three stages over the course of the weekend.
"Virgin is about doing things differently, so we always focus on making Virgin Festival much more than just a concert," said Andrew Bridge, director of Virgin Festivals, Virgin Mobile Canada. "With heavyweight acts like The Killers and indie favourites like Interpol, we're going to take the momentum from last year's success and do it up Virgin-style to create an even more unique entertainment experience."

Justin Timberlake regrets his Grammy Awards performance with a rejected American Idol singer, insisting event organizers took advantage of his "nice guy" attitude. He performed a medley of tunes with Robyn Troup, who won a TV contest called "My Grammy Moment" to land the chance to perform with Justin on music's biggest stage last month. Timberlake tells men's magazine Details he considered pulling out of the performance, but feared he'd left it too late. So, even with a heavy cold that prompted him to withdraw from a pre-Grammy party performance, he agreed to go through with what he felt was a bad idea. He says, "I'm the nice guy who follows through on the things he commits to. But I don't know if I'll be going through that sort of thing again. I feel like the Grammys used me for ratings."

That's right, word is that Fergie was recently banned from boarding a flight after being branded "too drunk to travel". The singer, real name Stacy Ferguson, was due to fly from Los Angeles to the UK with bandmates Will.I.AM, Apl.DE.AP and Taboo, but was forbidden to board the plane because of her drunken state. An onlooker tells British newspaper the Daily Mirror, "She was falling all over the place and had to be supported. She was in no state to fly. "But when she was prevented from boarding she couldn't believe it. She was drunkenly ranting at staff but could barely string a sentence together. It was very embarrassing." Ferguson delayed the flight for an hour while her luggage was removed, but her three bandmates remained on board the plane bound for London. A spokesperson for airline Virgin Atlantic says, "We can confirm a female passenger was denied from boarding as she appeared intoxicated and was therefore unsuitable for travel."
Contrary to recent reports Christina Aguilerawill NOT be appearing on CSI: New York. There were rumors back in January that the singer was confirmed as a guest star on the series, but those rumors were false, according to a CBS representative. The singer has been an avid campaigner against domestic violence after revealing her father physically abused her mother during her childhood.
Watch the music video for "Acceptable In The 80's" by Calvin Harris. The video is about the style and culture of the 1980's and it features many references of the time; the stereotypical large hairstyles, bright dayglo colours and bizarrely, scientists dissecting what appears to be an otter, products of which are used by a hair stylist, T.V. Chef, and to heal a grazed knee. The video is directed by Patrick Daughters.
Lily Allen reportedly lashed out at a photographer and reportedly insulted guests at London’s Groucho Club during a post-gig night out earlier this week.
According to the Mirror, Lily was spotted drinking shots during her gig at the Hammersmith Apollo on Monday night then she moved onto champagne at the aftershow party at Stringfellows in Soho.
When she left around 1am, the newspaper reports she was annoyed to find paparazzi waiting outside the club and she tried to grab a camera from a photographer.
After a brief tussle, Lily and boyfriend Seb Chew headed to the nearby Groucho Club, with Lily reportedly bursting in and shouting at the existing drinkers: “I’m more famous than you c***s! No, no it’s true. I am more famous than all of these c***s.”
A source told the newspaper: “Lily was drunk, rude and out of order. She staggered in, started screaming and really offended a lot of people. Her boyfriend was mortified and just sat in a corner looking embarrassed.”
Lily and Seb stayed at the club until around 3am before heading home.
"[Amy Winehouse] goes to all those parties, though, and hangs out with Kelly Osbourne and Kate Moss. I don't understand that need to become famous. In my country, I think I have a reputation of being a bad role model for kids. Yet nobody's ever had a picture of me rolling out of a nightclub at five in the morning completely out of my head on Ecstasy, and coked out of my brains. I always find that really peculiar. That's never gonna happen to me, because really I'm not like that. If I wanted to be like a rich and famous celebrity, I would be going to those celebrity parties and film premieres, but that's just not what I'm here for and not what I find interesting. And in my spare time I like to stay at home with my boyfriend and watch television. I have had my days of going out and getting trashed, but I don't really, anymore."
- Lily Allen in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly-
First of all the four of us just want to say that we're really sorry you didn't get to know about the recent news i.e. the split from our label before anyone else. It really wasn't that clear cut for a while and we wanted to let things settle for a while and give ourselves a break. As usual the press seems hell bent on repeating their negative reporting and we just felt it was time to say something official.
As you know we are so happy with the way our single "Rock Steady" went in November. We couldn't have wished for better and it just showed that we still have our fans supporting us as well as picking up some new ones along the way.
Of course we're really disappointed that things didn't work out with our album, Studio 1 on Parlophone. We've just hit some very weird turns along the way with some of the media which is such a shame for our fans as we know you love our music. It's funny how things go with certain people's perception of things - the negativity has been astounding to us all as we've only ever been honest about ourselves and more importantly just wanted to make and perform great music.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to you all. It's great to read all the positive comments on our myspace and on the messageboards.
We're going to continue making our music and we'll keep you in the picture as things go......................

All Saints recently cancelled a gig at G-A-Y in London due to "illness".

My favourite tracks are Chelsea, Hey School Boy and Orange County.

Christian Chavez from the insanely popular Mexican group RBD came out of the closet today.
Yup, this is about as shocking as when Lance Bass came out of the closet.
Who didn't see this coming????
I applaud Christian for his strength and courage. If you think there are few openly gay and lesbian artists in Hollywood, there are even fewer in the Latino entertainment world.
CLICK HERE to read his coming out letter, sent to the media this morning.
Lets REWIND back to 2004 and watch the Pussycat Dolls' music video for their debut single "Sway". The Pussycat Dolls, covered the song for their forthcoming album. However, the soundtrack director for the 2004 film Shall We Dance? came across Dolls' version and decided to use it for the original motion picture soundtrack instead of Jennifer Lopez's version. It was later decided it would be used as the theme song for the film. "Sway" is technically The Pussycat Dolls' debut single, although they came to international prominence with their second single "Don't Cha".
