Gossip: Britney Spears Apologizes to Pap

Britney Spears delivered a bizarre note to X17 about the umbrella incident pre-rehab. She also included the same message on her official site with info on her latest "roll".

She explains that her act was part of a "stunt" while preparing her "character" for a "roll" (sic) in a movie. "I take all my rolls (sic) very seriously and got a little carried away." "Unfortunately, I didn't get the part."

In other Britney news there's new information about the letter she hand delivered to her mom last week. It was a poem titled 'Dear Mama'.

In the poem, Britney lamented “that she didn’t have a mom anymore and she couldn’t imagine a mother doing what she did to her child,” a source told the tab. Britney delivered the verse, along with legal papers, to her mother on June 28 on the set of kid sister, Jamie Lynn’s television show, “Zoey 101.” The two are reportedly also battling over the affections of Jamie Lynn.

Britney said, ‘Here Momma, I just wanted to see your face,’” a source told Star. “Then she got into her car and drove off. Lynne went into the trailer and broke down in tears.” The CD reportedly contained recordings of phone conversations between Lynne Spears and Britney's estranged husband, Kevin Federline, in which the two are apparently working in cahoots.

Britney is forbidding her mother from seeing her two sons, and in one conversation, Lynne is said to be arranging to meet K-Fed and the boys, and says, “I have to be careful that Britney doesn’t find out!” The recordings were made by a private investigator, according to the tab.

In another call, Federline assured Britney's mother that his court battle with the singer was going well.

“Kevin told Lynne that he had everything under control,” adds the source. “He was just going to let Britney hang herself in court.” [source]

Music: Avril Lavigne Being Sued for Plagiarism

Canadian punk princess Avril Lavigne is being sued by U.S. songwriters for allegedly copying her “hit” song Girlfriend which aparently sounds a lot like a track they took up the charts in the 1970s.

News of the lawsuit comes a day after Canadian artist Chantal Kreviazuk took a swipe at Lavigne's songwriting skills.

"Avril doesn't really sit and write songs by herself or anything,'' Kreviazuk told the American music magazine, "Performing Songwriter.''

Kreviazuk also told the magazine she sent a song called "Contagious" to Lavigne. A song with the same title appears on Lavigne's latest CD, with a credit to Lavigne and songwriter Evan Taubenfeld.

"Avril will also cross the ethical line, and no one says anything," says Kreviazuk. "That's why I'll never work with her again''

Lavigne's camp maintains the material is original and that any similarities to Kreviazuk's tune end with the title.
