Music Video: Dannii Minogue - Touch Me Like That

Here's the latest video by Dannii Minogue.

I haven't followed her career as much as I should have considering that this is a good dance song and the video's nice too. I'm absolutely shocked by the physical resemblance to her more popular sister, even her voice sounds like Kylie. It must suck to live your sister's shadow. Well at least she's got this song and she's done it on her own.

What do you think of it?

My Review of Britney's Blackout Album

Britney's Blackout album will officially be out on October 30th but I've had the chance to listen to it ahead of its release (thank you Adrian). And let me tell you it's HAWT!!

Some of it is very "Britney" and some of it is quite far from anything she's done before but in this case that's a really good thing. The album is full of Pop goodness with a subtle sense of humour and a really danceable edge throughout.

Overall the album is brilliant, pure Pop, and dare I say it....Oops she's done it again! There, I said it.

Make sure you go out and buy it at your local music store 'cause you'll be hearing these songs everywhere you go.

Here's my track by track review:

1. Gimme More: This of course is the first single from the album. It's been playing all over the clubs and radio stations. It's the Number 1 song on iTunes etc...What else can I say? It's a hot track. Favourite line "It's Britney Bitch" which has now become a classic.

2. Piece Of Me: Nice chilled out song, slower than Gimme More. I like this one 'cause she pokes fun at herself and the attention she gets from the media. Favourite line "They still got pictures of my derriere in the magazine". Well, Brit maybe that's 'cause you don't like to wear underwear in public, maybe, just maybe.

3. Radar: This is one of the leaked songs that have been around for a while. It's an OK song, sounds kinda lazy, not much effort into it. Maybe it's 'cause I've been playing it for a while but I'm just not feeling it. Next song.

4. Break The Ice: Another "nice" song. It's got a danceable beat to it but it's one of those songs that kinda plays in the background while you take a break from the dance floor to go to the bar and refill your drink, know what I mean? Yeah it's one of those. Next!

5. Heaven On Earth: I like this one. It's cute, lovey dovey, very girly and flirtatious. Nice retro beat. Her voice here reminds me a bit of Paris Hilton on "Stars Are Blind".

6. Get Naked (I Got A Plan): It's got a hot beat. Is that her singing at the beginning? Sounds like a dude. I read somewhere that that it's her voice after some extreme manipulation. Sounds kinda creepy at first but really cool midway. I like it.

7. Freak Show: I think she's talking about her personal life on this one. A great rap at the beginning. I like that, she should do it more often. And there's that creepy voice again. What's up with that? Is that really her??

8. Toy Soldier: "Oh I need a soldier!" This is definitely my favourite song of the whole album. I hope it's her next single 'cause this song is hot, hot, hot! Definitely a club hit. I can totally picture Britney with some backup dancers dressed in sexy toy soldier costumes dancing in a line to a River Dance like choreography during her "rapping" bits. Love it!!

9. Hot As Ice: Another song that's been leaked for a while, made me look forward to the other songs. It's catchy, you'll be singing "break it down, break it down..." for a while. Favourite lines "living legend you can look but don't touch" and "To see your foolishness and f**kery and handling my b'ness, holler if you hear me, hey can I get a witness". Hot

10. Ooh Ooh Baby: Love this song too! It's sexy, it's flirtatious, it's slutty, just how I like my Britney. Best lines "I can feel you on my lips, I can feel you deep inside" and "filling me up, filling me up, filling me up...with your love".

11. Perfect Lover: Definitely a club song. Great danceable beat. Favourite line "tick tock, tick, tock, come and get me while I'm hot".

12. Why Should I Be Sad: I'm not big on slow songs but this' one's quite good. Nice sexy beat, very R&B.

So overall the album is great, make sure to go out and support it. Now the question is whether she'll do any promo work for it. I hope she does. I can just imagine the interviews... "So Britney, how do you feel now that everyone around the world has seen your 'booboo' maker?" ...

NEW Song: The Spice Girls - Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)

So here's the much anticipated new single by The Spice Girls. It's called "Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)" and unfortunately it's a bit of a snooze.

It's got that R&B vibe they were going for towards the end of the band a few years ago and we all know how that ended.

Not quite what I was expecting as their comeback single, but then again they're not the sexy Pop divas they were when at their peak.

Wonder what they'll do with this on their new video and on the Victoria Secret show.

Will this be a Number 1 hit? We'll see...

Thanks Jay!

Amy Winehouse To Headline mtvU Woodie Awards

Amy Winehouse has signed up to headline the 2007 mtvU Woodie Awards.

The 'Rehab' singer - who has not performed in the US since she pulled out of several high profile events and her American tour this summer due to "health issues" - has agreed to top the bill at New York's Roseland Ballroom on November 8.

The event is much more low profile than the MTV Video Music Awards - for which Amy cancelled her performance - as it only features acts voted for by college students and only students can attend the show. The 24-year-old star - notorious for last minute cancellations and performing while intoxicated - will be joined on the bill by The Academy Is... and Spank Rock.

After a rocky summer in which she married lover Blake Fielder-Civil, was hospitalised following a drugs overdose and was photographed after a bloody brawl with her new husband, Amy has eased back into public life. She most recently performed at the MOBO Awards in London last month, where she won Best UK Female but appeared to forget the lyrics to her songs on stage and was heavily criticised for her performance.

The Woodies will be aired simultaneously on mtvU and mtvU.com on November 15.

Meanwhile, Amy is preparing to begin work on her third studio album with producer Mark Ronson next month.

Justin Timberlake Breaks New Record

Justin Timberlake made chart history in America by becoming the first male solo artist this decade to have six Top 40 hits from one album.

Justin's new song, Until The End Of Time, entered the new Billboard countdown on Thursday (October 11, 07) - giving him six hits from his FutureSex/LoveSounds release.

Superstar Michael Jackson was the last male artist to achieve the feat, when he scored six hits from his Dangerous album in the early 1990s.

Britney Spears - Gimme More Uncensored

Here's the uncensored version of Britney's video for "Gimme More" with more T&A, mostly just more T's, with tiny pieces of tape on them.

I like this version better. It's dirtier, and I like dirty.

Thanks Jay!

Kylie Minogue To Star In Comeback TV Special

Kylie Minogue is to celebrate her musical comeback with an hour-long special on ITV1 in the UK.

The Kylie Show will feature new songs from her forthcoming album, X, mixed with classics from her 20-year career.

Producers promise a unique "visual experience" to accompany every track, in contrast to ITV's concert-style Audience With Kylie Minogue in 2001.

Speaking about the ITV show, Minogue said: "My creative team and I are preparing a fabulous evening with a mixture of old songs, new songs and lots of surprises thrown into the mix as well."

In a statement, ITV said the programme's producers were "pushing the boundaries to create an original and visually breathtaking piece of entertainment".

It is due to air later this year. [source]

Set your TiVo! A rep for The Spice Girls tells Usmagazine.com that the British bombshells will be performing at this year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show!

The fashion show, which marks the American TV debut of the Spice Girls’ comeback tour, will tape on November 14 at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre, and will air on CBS on December 4 at 10 p.m. Last year's musical guest was superstar Justin Timberlake.

A source tells Us that the Spice Women "are rehearsing for it already. It's going be their big comeback appearance."

NEW Music Video: Kylie Minogue - 2 Hearts

Brand NEW video by the princess of Pop Miz Kylie Minogue. This one's for "2 Hearts" the first single from her upcoming album X.

The single will be officially released on November 5th.

Am I feeling it? Not sure yet, might have to watch it again a few times.

It's definitely different for anything else she's done before but I love her all the same, I'm glad she's back.

Are you feeling it?

NEW Music Video: Robyn - Handle Me

Here's the new video for "Handle Me"by Robyn. This is also another one of my favourite songs from her latest album Robyn. This is the second video for this song, click HERE to watch the previous one.

Sorry!

Sorry for the lack of updates this week. I had a little accident with my keyboard last week where I spilled water all over it and it broke. Just got a new one today and I'm ready to catch you up on the latest music news.

NEW Music Video: Britney Spears - Gimme More

Following her disastruous performance at the MTV VMA's just a few weeks ago, here's Britney's equally disapointing music video for "Gimme More".

Where's the choreography, where are the dancers??

None of that here, just Britney dancing around a stripper pole.

Not impressed.

Featured Album: Dragonette - Galore

Galore the debut album by British/Canadian electropop band Dragonette is finally out in stores and let me tell you it's hot, hot, hot!! The long wait for it was definitely worth it. I had downloaded it in advance and after the first full listen I just had to go out and buy the CD at my local HMV. The album was physically released on September 24th in Europe and Japan, and on September 25th in Canada.

The album contains many of the songs featured on the Dragonette (EP), released independently in 2005 before the band moved to London and signed a deal with Mercury Records. Most of which have been rerecorded and reworked.

New tracks are "Another Day", "Get Lucky", "Black Limousine", "Gold Rush" and "Marvellous".

Notable omissions from the album include the songs "Nemesis", "Sad Eyes", "Titties For Daddy", "Magic Fantastic", "Shock Box" and "Teacher Teacher". "True Believer" is a reworked version of earlier song "Ruthless".

The songs "I Get Around", "True Believer", "Marvellous" and "Competition" all made Popjustice's "Greatest Hits of 2007" list, described as "the most amazing and brilliant pop tunes of 2007."

"I Get Around" was released as a single in April 2007. "Take It Like A Man" was released in July 2007. The third single, "Competition", will be released in October 2007.

Tracks:

  1. I Get Around
  2. Competition
  3. Take It Like a Man
  4. True Believer
  5. Another Day
  6. Get Lucky
  7. Jesus Doesn't Love Me
  8. Black Limousine
  9. Gold Rush
  10. You Please Me
  11. Marvellous (Bonus Track)
